About Farvel

Farvel is a web-based technology platform that provides individuals with a safe space to create, store and share their preferences around their death. It empowers people by providing them a means to communicate their wishes around death and dying. Farvel also provides their users with a range of communication tools that allow them to communicate their love for their family and friends. Farvel wants to empower people to acknowledge and accept that one day we will die and that this fact is fundamental to living a full life.

Farvel was founded in 2022 in Orange, Australia by Rebecca McLaurin but a dream in the making since 2018.

Who owns the videos, letters, photos, audio recordings on Farvel?

You do! Please check out our Terms & Conditions for more details, but have peace of mind knowing that the only people who will ever see your data are your friends and family (whom you choose to share with). We will never use your videos, letters, declarations, photos, audio recordings in any way without your permission.

How private is Farvel?

Farvel is completely private. The letters, audio /video recordings, photos and declarations that you upload can only be viewed by the family and friends that you or your “keeper/legacy contact” invite to view them. Our Privacy Policy and Terms are always available for you to review, and please email us at info@myfarvel.com if you have any further questions.

What is a ‘Keeper’?

A keeper is a person who you assign to assist you create, manage, upload and share your Farvel information. This keeper can also assist you manage and share your data after you pass away.

What is the difference between a Keeper and a Legacy Contact?

A keeper’s role is to help enter, manage and share your Farvel content. A legacy contact is selected to assume primary responsibility for your Farvel account once you have passed away. This contact may be exactly the same person as your Keeper. This person can decide whether to continue the subscription and therefore continue to have the ability to share the content with the account holders family and friends.

Why am I having difficulty adding a Keeper to my account?

In the case where a Farvel account holder /user tries to assign a keeper who themselves has an existing Farvel account, a different email account (different to their existing account email) must be used to successfully add them as a keeper onto your account. If a keeper already has an account and they try and become a user, then the same principle applies (a separate email address needs to be used). 

How do I join Farvel?

You can sign up for FREE at www.myfarvel.com . You have 3 months where you can use all our features but after this period is over you will need to choose one of our payment options to continue to use the following features:

  • To use our video or audio recording device
  • To upload a cherished memory or other personal files
  • To interview yourself with our recording device
  • To share any communication with a loved one

What can my family and friends see on Farvel?

Your family and friends will only see what you invite them to view. You can choose how much or how little you share. You can assign a keeper whose role it is to help you enter, manage and share your Farvel creations either whilst you are alive or after you pass.

How do I delete my Farvel account?

For now, you will need to email us at info@myfarvel.com and we will delete your account for you.

In the event of a Farvel account holder’s death, one of your keeper/s is responsible for notifying the Farvel team at info@myfarvel.com. The keeper that has been assigned the ‘legacy contact’ by the Farvel account user, will assume primary responsibility for the user’s account. Other keeper/s can access and view the account (depending on their privileges assigned by the account holder.)  The keeper/s / legacy contact will have limited control over the account and can continue to use some of the communication tools associated with the account such as sharing letters, videos etc. If the legacy contact decides to keep the account active but chooses not to continue the subscription, they will be limited to viewing the content. The legacy contact will have authority to cancel / deactivate the account.

What happens if I do not assign a legacy contact?

If no legacy contact was/is assigned by the Farvel account holder, the keeper that was first added to the account will assume this role.

How much does it cost to use Farvel?

Farvel is free for a 3 month period. Within this time you can use all the features with unlimited data storage. After 3 months you can continue to enjoy all the Farvel features by either signing up to the ‘Farvel Monthly’ or ‘Farvel Yearly’ subscription plan.

$14.99 AUD / month

Full access to use all the benefits / features of Farvel including the following:

• A safe and secure place to save, store, upload and share information / data about your funeral / resting place and wishes around your death.

• A safe place to create, save, share and upload letters, memories, photos and videos for yourself and your family and friends.

• Interview yourself on the Farvel recording device and answer the Farvel suggested questions about your life /story or come up with your own.

• Unlimited storage.

Recurring billing. Cancel anytime.

‘Farvel Yearly’

$152 AUD / year (save 15% when you pay yearly)

Full access to use all the benefits / features of Farvel including the following:

• A safe and secure place to save, store, upload and share information / data about your funeral / resting place and wishes around your death.

• A safe place to create, save, share and upload letters, memories, photos and videos for yourself and your family and friends.

• Interview yourself on the Farvel recording device and answer the Farvel suggested questions about your life /story or come up with your own.

• Unlimited storage.

Recurring billing. Cancel anytime.

Your family and friends do not need to pay to be invited to view things from your account. If you switch plans, all previously created letters, memories, photos, audio and video recordings will still be safely stored in your account.

Do you have a storage limit?

We offer UNLIMITED storage for all our Farvel subscribers.

Can I cancel my subscription?

You can easily cancel your Farvel subscription at any time.

After cancelling, you will not be able to use the Farvel features, however your photos, letters, audio and video recordings uploaded during your Farvel journey will still remain in your account.
